The annual NSW North West Regional Ping Pong Carnival brought excitement, laughter and fierce competition to the region as academies gathered for an unforgettable event. This year, the event was hosted by the Quirindi Academy and saw teams from across the North West converge on Quirindi Racecourse for two days of fun and spirited matches.
The atmosphere was charged as academies arrived and greeted one another with warm camaraderie. After an initial briefing and some warm-up games, the competition began in earnest. The first day was filled with high-energy matches and a series of preliminary rounds that kept everyone engaged. As the day drew to a close, the anticipation built for the finals that would take place the following morning.
Academy members and staff enjoyed a hearty dinner of spaghetti bolognese followed by a movie night that further strengthened bonds among participants.
By the time the sun rose the next day, everyone was ready for the day’s highlight – the finals. The finals saw thrilling action as teams vied for the top spot with Inverell Academy ultimately emerging victorious in both the ‘Funs’ and ‘Guns’ categories. Special recognition was given to Moree Academy for their sportsmanship in lending a player to Oxley Academy when one of their own faced an injury during warm-ups.
The event showcased not just competitive spirit but the supportive environment inherent in all Clontarf programs.
This carnival exemplifies why table tennis has become a staple in every Clontarf academy around Australia. The sport is an accessible, enjoyable way for academy members to bond, share laughs and challenge themselves in a friendly setting. From first-timers discovering a new passion to budding stars – whether staff or academy members – ping pong continues to create an atmosphere of joy and community.
