Anakin Begins His Apprenticeship Journey

Harristown Academy (Toowoomba, QLD) member Anakin Hooke finished 2025 having secured a highly competitive apprenticeship with Clontarf partner Energy Queensland, earning his place among a small number of successful applicants from across the state.

Throughout his time at Harristown, Anakin was known for his quiet consistency. He approached school and academy activities with reliability and focus, steadily building skills and confidence without drawing attention to himself. That approach earned the trust of staff and respect from peers, particularly as he moved into his senior years.

Through the academy, Anakin engaged in a range of employment-focused activities designed to support the transition from school into work. These included employment forums, industry engagement and structured preparation around workplace expectations, communication and responsibility. Over time, he became increasingly confident in professional settings and clear about his post-school direction.

That preparation paid off when Anakin was selected for an apprenticeship with Energy Queensland following a competitive statewide selection process. The opportunity marked an important step into full-time employment and the beginning of a long-term career pathway within the energy sector.

Anakin’s achievement was recognised at the 2025 combined Toowoomba Academies Awards Night, where he was acknowledged alongside Energy Queensland representatives who supported the pathway.

Harristown Academy staff and the region’s Employment Officer will continue to keep in touch with Anakin as he progresses through his apprenticeship and into the next stage of his career.
