Champion Bay caps off a milestone year with celebration and adventure

Champion Bay Academy has wrapped up an exceptional year marked by achievement, pride and unforgettable experiences — from a packed Awards Night to a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Cairns for the graduating Year 12s.

Awards Night shines a light on effort and excellence

Families, teachers, community leaders and partners came together to recognise the achievements of academy members at the 2025 Champion Bay Clontarf Awards Night. The evening opened with an introduction of the Year 12 cohort, followed by an Acknowledgement of Country and a didgeridoo performance from junior academy members.

Awards across categories including Most Outstanding, Encouragement, Attendance, Spirit of Clontarf, Academic and Employment were presented to well-deserving recipients, with smiles and applause filling the room throughout.

One of the highlights of the night was the Driving Foundations raffle, led by two Year 11 academy members, which awarded car-care packs to learners who had earned their L or P plates — a celebration of hard work, responsibility and independence.

The night concluded with thanks to supporters and a shared meal on the deck of Central TAFE, whose generosity in hosting was warmly acknowledged.

A well-earned reward in tropical Queensland

Fresh off their graduation, the Year 12s boarded a major trip to Cairns — though not without a few surprises. A cancelled flight saw the group unexpectedly placed in comfortable hotel accommodation, which the boys took in good spirits (and made the most of the buffet breakfast).

Once they arrived in Far North Queensland, the adventure began in full: diving on the Great Barrier Reef, exploring Hartley Crocodile Park and cooling off in the region’s waterfalls. The trip was filled with laughter, strong bonds and personal growth, and served as a fitting reward for years of commitment to school, academy life and their own futures.

Looking ahead

With a strong finish to 2025 and a new generation of leaders stepping up, the energy and momentum at Champion Bay Academy continue to build. As preparations begin for the Class of 2026, there is a clear sense of pride in what has been achieved and excitement about what comes next.
