Close to 100 Greater Sydney Clontarf Year 11 and 12 students came together with representatives from 32 partner organisations for the 2026 Greater Sydney Employment Forum.
Held at Hoops Capital in Moore Park, the forum gave students the chance to learn more about employment, training and career pathways after school.
Academy members from Matraville, Endeavour, Elizabeth Macarthur, Airds, Cranebrook, Bidwill and Chifley Senior Academies took part in the day, which provided an opportunity to connect directly with Clontarf partners and hear from people working across a broad range of industries.
Employment is a key part of the Clontarf program, with the aim of helping young men complete Year 12 and move successfully into employment, further education or training. While academy members are still at school, experiences such as Employment Forums play an important role in helping them prepare for that next step.
Throughout the forum, students had the chance to speak with employers, ask questions about different roles, learn more about career pathways and build their confidence engaging in a professional setting. For many of the boys, the day provided valuable exposure to workplaces and opportunities they may not have considered before.
Marcus Harrold, Clontarf General Manager for Employment, said the forum was an important opportunity for students to see what life after school could look like.
“Employment Forums give our young men the chance to meet employers, ask questions and start thinking about their future after school,” he said. “These conversations are often the first step towards real job, training and career opportunities, and we are very grateful to our partners for supporting that journey.”
The day was also an important opportunity for partners to meet the young men behind the Clontarf program, share their own career experiences and provide practical advice about what employers look for in future employees.
A huge thank you to the 32 partner organisations who gave their time to support the forum and engage so positively with academy members. Their involvement helps turn conversations about employment into genuine opportunities and future pathways for Clontarf members.
