Strong Routines Drive a Standout Year at South Grafton Academy

Morning training has become one of the defining strengths of South Grafton Academy in 2025, with a consistent group of boys arriving before school each day to set a positive tone for their learning. Despite cold starts, wet conditions and the occasional last-minute move to an indoor venue, an average of 30 academy members turned up each morning ready to get moving and begin the day well.

What began as a traditional footy-style session has grown into a more inclusive program focused on fast-paced games, team challenges and activities designed to build confidence and enjoyment. The shift has been embraced by the boys, who continued to show up in good spirits, encouraged one another and displayed fairness and respect throughout the year.

The positive culture extended beyond the field. After a student suffered an injury last year, he found a new way to stay involved by preparing breakfast for the group each morning. His initiative quickly became a valued part of the routine, with other boys joining him and turning breakfast into another space where teamwork and leadership developed naturally.

Strong support from the wider community added further depth to the program. Local partners, school staff and teachers regularly attended morning sessions, while guest speakers visited throughout the year to discuss decision-making, options beyond school and the importance of positive pathways. Their involvement helped reinforce the messages the boys hear each day and showed them they have a strong network behind them.

As the year concludes, the morning training program stands out as a genuine highlight for South Grafton Academy. The consistency, enthusiasm and behaviour shown by the boys have shaped a culture built on routine, respect and participation, laying a strong foundation for 2026.
