Top Attenders Conquer Capital

The top attendees from Shalvey Academy (Mount Druitt, NSW) earned their place on an unforgettable camp to Canberra, an experience that left a lasting impact on all involved.

The journey began with a dynamic morning session at the Sydney Super Training, hosted by the Dunheved Clontarf Academy. The energy was palpable as the boys prepared for the exciting days ahead.

Upon arrival in Canberra, the group made their first stop at Parliament House. For many of the boys, this was their very first time seeing the nation’s seat of government. As they walked through the grand corridors, they were awestruck by the significance of the place, which they had only ever seen in pictures or heard about in school.

The following day, the group visited the Australian War Memorial, where they were guided through the exhibits by an expert tour guide. The guide shared moving stories of Australians who served in the world wars, and the boys listened with rapt attention, absorbing the powerful history and the sacrifices made by their ancestors.

The next morning, the group headed to the Canberra Raiders’s headquarters, where they had the unique opportunity to watch the team train. The boys were inspired by a powerful talk from player Albert Hopoate, who shared his journey and insights, leaving a profound impression on the young attendees. Jamal Fogarty then led them on a tour of the Raiders’s facilities, offering a glimpse into the demanding and rewarding life of professional athletes.

The adventure continued with a visit to Questacon, the National Science and Technology Centre. The boys were captivated by the interactive exhibits, each one sparking their curiosity and imagination. It was a day of exploration and learning, filled with moments of wonder.

As the camp drew to a close, the boys returned home, carrying with them memories of an enriching and engaging experience. The trip was filled with firsts, from exploring national landmarks to meeting professional athletes, and it provided the boys with valuable lessons and unforgettable stories to share.
