Wellington Academy Celebrates Record Year 12 Graduates

The Wellington Clontarf Academy marked a significant milestone in 2025, with 13 academy members completing Year 12.

Since opening in 2019, when four academy members completed Year 12, Wellington steadily strengthened retention, engagement and expectations. The graduating group of 2025 reflected that sustained effort and the value of long-term, consistent support.

Throughout their time at school, the boys engaged in the full breadth of the Clontarf program. This included classroom support, assistance navigating family and external pressures, community involvement, worksite visits, camps and carnivals. Over time, many developed into confident public speakers, capable leaders and role models within both the academy and the broader school community. Several earned school captaincies, house leadership roles and positions on the Student Representative Council.

As senior students, the group increasingly leaned into the opportunities available through the academy to prepare for life beyond school. 10 of the 13 boys maintained part-time employment during their final two years, with some balancing multiple jobs alongside their studies. Representing the academy at public events became a strength, with the group widely recognised for their professionalism, reliability and willingness to step forward.

Parents echoed this sentiment at the academy’s awards night, with many expressing gratitude for the guidance, expectations and opportunities their sons received. Several noted that completing Year 12 would not have been possible without the support of the academy and its staff.

By the end of the year, every graduate had transitioned into a clear next pathway. Outcomes included full-time local employment, work on out-of-town solar farms and university study. Four graduates moved into higher education, including two who received early entry to Newcastle University, where they are set to commence degrees in Criminology and Media Communications in 2026.

This group set a strong benchmark for future Wellington Academy members. Their commitment, leadership and steady growth across six years of schooling stood as a clear example of what can be achieved through consistency, trust and high expectations.
