Clontarf Cup Delivers Big Day of Competition in Perth

Approximately 200 Clontarf academy members from as far north as Carnarvon and as far south as Esperance came together in Perth for the annual Clontarf Cup football carnival.

More than 200 young Clontarf men gathered on the fringes of the Perth CBD for the annual Clontarf Cup held on Wednesday 25 March.

The Year 10-12 students from across 24 Western Australian academies travelled from as far as Carnarvon, Kalgoorlie and Esperance to be part of one of the biggest days on the Clontarf calendar.

From the first bounce at 9:00am until the final siren at 3:00pm, the day showcased Clontarf at its best – sportsmanship, teamwork and energy on display across every match.

Players, staff and over 250 Clontarf partner representatives and supporters enjoyed a sumptuous barbecue lunch, with addresses from the City of Perth’s Lord Mayor, Mr Bruce Reynolds and Clontarf Foundation Deputy CEO, Mr Craig Brierty. The ever-popular Clontarf Sprint followed, drawing students and partners to the start line for a fast-paced finish in front of a vocal crowd.

A big thank you to our many partners who helped bring the day to life, whether it be on the barbecues, serving food, on the field goal umpiring or on the sidelines keeping the players hydrated. Your support made it all possible and sincerely appreciated by all who were fortunate to have attended the marquee event.

Congratulations to the grand final winners and to the players who were selected to participate in the following day’s State of Origin trial match.
