University Drives Young Men to Complete Year 12

In the first week of the July school holidays, nine Clontarf Academy members committed their time to ensuring they leave no stone unturned in the quest for the best possible HSC results.

Knuckling down: Nine Clontarf boys from NSW and QLD attended the University of Sydney's 2019 Bunga Barrabugu Winter Program to assist in their preparation for university entry.

They joined 38 students from NSW and QLD in attending the University of Sydney’s 2019 Bunga Barrabugu Winter Program, an academic preparation and support programme that successfully leads to university enrolments.

Will Bruce, Malakai Gibbs, Jesse Mills, Quincy Ross, Kaylum Symons (Dubbo Senior), Liam Harris, Jack Phoenix (Singleton), and Jacob and Jock Ellis (Oxley), were part of a group of Year 12 students invited to spend a week at the University to sharpen their skills and plan for their future. Tailored expert support from academics and faculties encouraged these students to develop a stronger sense of self, knowledge and awareness of pathways available after high school.

These young men impressed all week with their work ethic and positive engagement in academic sessions and extracurricular activities. By putting in the extra effort during their school holidays, the boys are ensuring they are better prepared for the upcoming assessment period and will have a range of options available to them upon completion of Year 12.
