Tweed River Clontarf Academy is celebrating a standout year of employment success, with more than 40% of academy members now working with local businesses and Clontarf partners.
Twenty-eight young men are currently employed, including every Year 12 participant, reflecting the academy’s strong focus on work readiness and long-term planning.
Alongside part-time and casual roles, many boys are undertaking school-based traineeships, apprenticeships and VET pathways. The academy’s employment program has continued to expand, with young men taking the initiative to secure essential documentation such as their driver’s licence, Tax File Number, Graduate Employment Plan, résumé, white cards, RSA and other requirements that position them well for post-school opportunities.
Academy Director Cameron Campbell said he is proud of the commitment shown by the young men this year.
“More of our boys are seeing the value of part-time work and traineeships, and they’re putting in the effort to prepare themselves properly for employment,” Cameron said.
“Their attitude towards work readiness has been outstanding. It’s great to see them take ownership, build confidence and set themselves up for life beyond school.”
At the recent awards night, the Employment Award was presented to Year 11 participant James Coates, who works part time at Bunnings, holds his provisional licence and is completing a school-based mechanic apprenticeship. His achievements set a strong example for younger academy members and demonstrate what can be accomplished through commitment and consistent engagement.
Congratulations!
